Why Should I Change My Oil?

We all know that it's important to change your vehicle's oil. However, not everyone knows why it's so important, or how often to change it. Oil is responsible for keeping your engine running. A car's engine is full of many moving parts, which rub against each other creating friction and heat. Normally this would cause the parts to break down; however, oil provides a layer of lubrication. Engine oil reduces the friction produced, and carries the heat away from the moving parts.

The heat has to go somewhere though, and instead of breaking down your engine, it starts to break down your oil. Over time, your oil ceases to be as effective at its job. It can even start to form a thick sludge, harming your engine. It is important to change your oil before this happens. Remember, changing your oil is a lot easier than changing your engine. Recommended service intervals vary depending on your vehicle and how often you drive, but a good rule of thumb is to change your oil every six months or 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. Schedule an appointment with our service center today, and we'll have your oil changed in no time.
