The 2019 Ford Ranger is On Its Way. Here's How Ford is Getting it Ready

Ever since it left the marketplace, fans have been eager for Ford to bring back its midsize Ford Ranger truck. In 2019, Ford will be granting their wish. A brand new version of the Ranger is on the way, and Ford is working hard to make sure it meets the same "Ford tough" standards that define the rest of Ford's truck lineup.

"We torture every component – from its high-strength steel frame to its EcoBoost® engine to its cloth and leather-trimmed seats," said Ford Ranger chief engineer Rick Bolt. "[We want] to ensure Ranger is ready for any season and nearly any terrain."

What exactly is the Ranger being subjected to? Robot-based stress tests have been used to run it through rigors that human drivers couldn't perform safely. An in-lab "shaker table" has been used to test its durability. The Ranger is also being driven in high-temperature conditions to test its performance in heat.

Originally designed for the F-150, these tests are designed to push a vehicle to its limits. The fact that the Ranger is passing them? That's only good news for drivers eager to get their hands on the new truck.
